Ming’s Dynasty

Two Toronto rappers, Young Riesling (Antony Hall) and Whyte Wyne (Calwyn Shurgold), chasing hip hop fame get saddled with running Ming Ho Garden, a small-town Chinese restaurant in Coaldale, Alberta. The adventures — or misadventures — begin when Young Riesling’s father has a stroke.

At times, this comedic series breaks the fourth wall to hilarious effect. While using the restaurant’s walk-in refrigerator as a sound booth to record a new tune, Young Riesling and White Wyne get locked in while their vape juice is rapidly depleted. Next, Young Riesling’s dad, Gordon Ming Ho (Christopher Yee), faints after losing a huge bet, leaving the friends on their own at the restaurant. What’s more, the chef, Cousin, abruptly quits. Can Young Riesling and Whyte Wyne handle dinner service on their own, or will the strangely picky truckers ruing the evening? And just WHAT is that in Chef Whyte’s smoked salmon sushi special??

Ever ring in the Chinese New Year with some very special tea? Watch Young Riesling’s dad get lit like never before, as well as honest — but can he come clean about his gambling addiction? Can Young Riesling and Whyte Wyne serve up their hip hop to the masses, or will they continue to struggle in obscurity in Alberta? Sound appetizing? Make a reservation for Ming’s Dynasty, where friends, family, culture, race, drugs, and laughs are all on the menu.
