30 Second Somebodies

Why would anyone want to see another show about actors? Well, we’ve seen shows about famous actors and struggling actors, but not “blue collar” actors-the ones that hustle, live a middle-class life, and work to make a decent living at the creative craft they love. They’re not quite famous, but people sorta, kinda know who they are: “they’re that gal/guy from that commercial!” Though were exploring a niche-world, our :30 Second Somebodies are relatable, because like many of us, they’re people dealing with living a shittier version of their dreams.

The ambulance-chasing lawyer who once dreamed of fighting for civil rights in the Supreme Court; the race car driver who working for Lyft; the division I college athlete now teaching PE… Anyone making stuck making living doing the job they wanted, just not quite how they dreamed it would be. Our gang consists of a variety of personalities: Kevin the hapless curmudgeon, Micah the busybody cheapskate, Zibby the cunning new ager, Marco the clueless fresh face, John the tortured artist, Ryan the neurotic family man, and Jackson the carefree party boy. These are friends who love each other but their quirks grate each other’s nerves–and like all long-time friends, they know each other’s shortcomings and accept them. At the end of the day, no matter how much they annoy each other, they’re still rooting for each other to succeed. The world of commercial acting is less the focus of the show and more the vehicle with which we’ll to get to know these characters. Of course, this world and all its unique quirks will be explored; ruthless session runners, evil doppelgangers, prepping for an audition as someone “not too handsome”, basically getting hired to be human furniture.
